Currituck Beach Lighthouse
Corolla, North Carolina

Currituck Beach Light, on the northern most end of the Outer Banks of North Carolina, can be found in the village of Corolla.  Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the lighthouse was built in 1875 and stands 162 feet. The lighthouse is made of solid red brick and is surrounded by Victorian style keeper's quarters and utility buildings.  Tall trees embrace the structure, and if you are fortunate, you might even catch a glimpse of the wild ponies that roam the area. The grounds are leased by the Outer Banks Conservationists and the U.S Coast Guard maintains possession of the lighthouse.
